ASTM A350 LF2 flange material are a type of flange made from Carbon Steel that conforms to the specifications outlined in ASTM A350/A350M. The LF2 designation specifically refers to low-temperature carbon steel flanges. These flanges are designed for use in low-temperature service applications, making them suitable for environments where temperatures can drop significantly.
ASTM A350 LF2 Flanges is a method of connecting pipes, valves, pumps and other equipment to form a piping system. It also provides easy access for cleaning, inspection or modification. Flanges are usually welded or screwed. Flanged joints are made by bolting together two flanges with a gasket between them to provide a seal.ASTM A350 LF2 Flanges (Standard Specification for Carbon and Low-Alloy Steel Forgings, Requiring Notch Toughness Testing for Piping Components)
ASTM A350 LF2 Flange Material Equivalent
ASTM A350 LF2 flange material is a low temperature carbon steel forging material, commonly used to manufacture pipes, pipe fittings and valves that work in low temperature environments. It has good strength and toughness, especially at low temperatures, it can maintain good mechanical properties to prevent brittle fracture and other failure forms.
Equivalent grades of ASTM A350 LF2 are as follows:
Group Of Material | Common Name Of Material | Type Of Material | UNS | Forging Spec. | Casting Spec. Equivalent | DIN | DIN W. No | Application |
Low Temperature Carbon Steel (LTCS) | LTCS | C-Mn-Fe | K03011 | A350-LF2 | A352-LCB A352-LCC | TSTE 355 DIN 18103 | 1.0566 | General non-corrosive service from -46ºC (-50ºF) to 340ºC (650ºF), LF2 -46ºC ~ 425ºC |

The carbon content in A350 LF2 is usually limited to a certain range, generally not exceeding 0.30%. Carbon is an important element that affects the strength and hardness of steel. The right amount of carbon can increase the strength of steel, but if the carbon content is too high, it will reduce the toughness of the steel, especially in low temperature environments, high carbon content may cause the steel to become brittle.

Yield strength is the stress at which steel begins to deform plastically. This is important to ensure that the steel does not deform excessively when subjected to load.
Low Temperature Carbon Steel Flange types
A blind flange is a solid flange with no holes in the middle. It is mainly used to close the end of a pipe or to cut off a pipe system. A350 blind flanges are manufactured according to the A350 standard and usually consist of a circular flange with bolt holes around the perimeter.
Lap Joint Flange
The lap joint flange consists of a flange and a collar. The collar is put on the pipe, and the flange and the collar are connected by bolts. The structure of the A350 lap joint flange allows a certain amount of space between the pipe and the flange, which can adapt to the thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe.
Slip On Flange
Slip on flange is to weld the flange directly to the pipe, and the welding part is the inner hole edge of the flange and the outer periphery of the pipe. The welding process of A350 slip on flange is relatively simple, and usually does not require a complex welding process like butt welding flange.
Socket Weld Flange
One end of the socket flange is a socket, and the pipe is connected after being inserted into the socket. The socket size of the A350 socket flange is determined according to the A350 standard, including the depth, inner diameter and other parameters of the socket.
Threaded Flange
The inner hole or outer circumference of the threaded flange is threaded, and it is connected to the pipe through the thread. The thread specifications of the A350 threaded flange conform to the A350 standard. When connecting, screw the pipe with the corresponding thread into the threaded hole of the flange, and use the self-locking characteristics of the thread to achieve the connection.
The neck of the weld neck flange is connected to the pipe by butt welding. Its structural feature is a longer neck, which makes the connection between the flange and the pipe more secure and can withstand higher pressure and temperature.
Advantages of A350 LF2 Material
Good Low Temperature Performance
A350 LF2 flange material has excellent toughness in low temperature environments. Its chemical composition and micro structure have been optimized to effectively resist brittle fracture at low temperatures.
Good Weldability
A350 LF2 has good weldability and can adapt to a variety of common welding processes. Due to the characteristics of its chemical composition, A350 LF2 can form a welded joint with relatively stable quality after welding.
Balanced Mechanical Properties
A350 LF2 has achieved a good balance between strength and toughness. Its yield strength and tensile strength can meet the load-bearing requirements of many engineering structures, while having sufficient toughness to prevent sudden brittle failure during use.
